Smbconftool is a Java application that enables you to edit the smb.conf file in a graphical manner. It runs on the machine where the smb.conf file resides. Therefore, whereas smbconftool can run on any machine that supports Java because it uses file IO to access the smb.conf file, it must run on the system where the smb.conf file resides.
