smb-mode.el

This tool is an Emacs major mode written by Fraser McCrossan that helps administrators edit the smb.conf file. When you have downloaded and configured smb-mode.el, you receive features such as

• Automatic indentation of your smb.conf file



• Editing operations on whole sections of your smb.conf file



• A new mode, outline-minor-mode, which can give you an overview of the whole smb.conf file



• Parameter lookup in the smb.conf manual page



• Parameter completion



• A number of other capabilities

In order to use smb-mode.el with Emacs, you should download it from http://users.gtn.net/fraserm/smbmode.html. That page also contains instructions on how to install smb-mode.el.

The steps you must perform are

1. Download smb-mode.el from http://users.gtn.net/fraserm/smbmode.html

2. Install smb-mode.el in your site-lisp directory

3. Add some Lisp to your .Emacs file (or create your .Emacs file if it does not already exist)
